Cheezy Cookies

Ingredients

whole wheat flour — 2 cups

corn meal — 2 cups

wheat germ — 1/4 cup

Cheeze sauce below

vegetable cooking spray

Instructions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees . Make cheeze sauce below. While cheeze cools, mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make a well in the middle and pour in cheeze sauce and stir until well mixed. Turn mixed dough onto flour-coated counter top and need about ten times picking up and adding flour until mixture is dry enough to roll out. Using a rolling pin or wine bottle, roll dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out cookie shapes and place on a cookie sheet that's been sprayed lightly with cooking oil. Bake in batches at 325 until lightly browned, let cool before serving. (Take cookies off the cookie sheet when done cooking, otherwise they continue to cook. Putting them on some waxed paper atop a countertop works. Also, don't put the dough on a hot cookie sheet before putting them in the oven (this can happen after the first batch if you only have one cookie sheet). So if you only have one cookie sheet, cool it by running water over it in the sink before using it again.)

Comments

Our dogs get treats before bedtime every night. It's a ritual, complete with a little song and dance. The cost of treats was seriously expensive. We keep store-bought treats as a backup for when we run out, but day in and day out, they get these (and a few other homemade recipes that we'll put up someday). They prefer them.
