Nutritional yeast is NOT the yeast you can buy in little packets on the baking aisle at the grocery store. Most natural-foods stores carry it or can order it online (see below). It looks like little, powdery golden flakes and gives a creamy texture to some dishes.
It's also a great source of B-12. Some think B-12 comes from animal sources. It doesn't, not really. It comes from bacterial sources. Most people get their B-12 from meat because dead flesh is always being broken down by these particular bacteria. However, these bacteria can also be set loose on vegetable sources, which is where vegan B-12 comes from.
